Garden Trellises

There are two standard sizes of trellis: 2m x 1m and 1.5m x 0.8m but different sizes can be custom made.

The trellises will support a range of climbers, are strong enough to take the weight of a climbing rose, and even when not covered with a climbing plant are an attractive wall feature.

The gap between wall and trellis allows air to circulate freely which will help to reduce humidity and assist with the reduction of some plant diseases.  The plant trellis will frame the plant and multiple trellises along a wall can create a spectacular gallery effect. Trellises can be used to create a green façade in a narrow passageway, fill a difficult wall space or hide an unattractive part of a wall.

Before erecting a trellis, it is important to ensure that the wall can support the trellis and plant weight, as some plants, particularly when in flower, can be quite heavy.  Selecting a plant species that will thrive in the chosen location is also important as well as care and maintenance of climbers to ensure an even growth pattern on the trellis, especially during their establishment period.

Garden Arches

The standard metal garden arch is a solid structure 2.8m high, 0.5m deep and 2m wide. Other sizes can be made to order.

The picture shows a new garden arch ready to be despatched.

When bold transitions are required to make dramatic statements or when two distinctly different garden spaces adjoin a garden, an arch draped in a climbing plant can injected interest and intrigue - it sets the mood for what is about to come.

The selection of the correct plant species is important for their success. The position and the micro-climate of where the arch is to be located will determine which plant species is most suitable.  Equally important is to have an arch which is strong enough to support the plant and to have it securely installed, as there can be a lot of weight involved.  Arches need to be big and wide enough so that they are comfortable to walk through without catching clothing or having to run the gauntlet of bees when in flower.

Manufacturing and finish details:

Made for us by a local metal craftsman the trellises and arches are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.  To protect from rusting they are galvanised and finished with a matte black paint which provides a neutral background for a climbing plant.
